HR Professional Becomes Retirement Coach:
"WOW!! What an extensive library of materials and tools you have!” This was the remark of Lisa Silvershein when she found the Career Coach Institute web site at www.careercoachinstitute.com
When Lisa decided to become a coach, she did extensive research on the internet. She immediately gravitated to career coaching, having been an HR professional and found the book Career Coaching: an Insider’s Guide by Marcia Bench. And according to Lisa, “I devoured it and was incredibly impressed by Marcia’s philosophy and approach to coaching.” She immediately decided to purchase materials from CCI including “How to Launch Your Practice” which helped her create her business plan and get her business off the ground.
In 2005, she had the fortunate opportunity to meet Marcia, in person at a regional ICF coaching conference in New York City. She attended her breakout session and was hooked! After meeting Marcia and seeing her extensive library of materials and tools first-hand, she handed her credit card and became a student immediately! Says Lisa, “Basically, I dove in full force and took advantage of ALL that goes along with CCI’s programs including e-modules, tele-classes, homework, mentor coaching, practice sessions… everything. The core tele-classes were invaluable as they brought the text to life.” She says the opportunity to learn from the practice coaching sessions within the teleclasses enabled her to practice and refine her coaching skills – so she could start inviting new clients to work with her more quickly than if she hadn’t had that practice. Her Practice Development Coach (provided with her program) was key to her success, as the coach was able to clarify and leverage Lisa’s strengths so that she could build her business to “successful” fast.
In Lisa’s words, “I have learned to be a more valuable and effective coach as I integrate level 1, 2 and 3 questions into my coaching sessions. As a result of my well developed coaching skills, my clients have been extending their coaching agreements and my bank account is growing!!”
